Downtown Cleveland Ready for Caged Fury – Tickets on Sale!

PKW Live on Cleveland Radio

PKW Promotions and Champions Sports Bar are pleased to announce the return of “Caged Fury” to Northeast Ohio. On March 31st, The NAAFS Pro Series will make its debut as part of Caged Fury at the Gray’s Armory in downtown Cleveland, Ohio marking a historic night for the NAAFS. After a highly successful run over the past 18 months, the NAAFS (North American Amateur Fight Series) will now feature the top amateur and professional stars of tomorrow during various MMA shows in 2007. “Its time to expand in to the professional ranks with the objective of continuing to build a solid foundation for our fighters. Now our amateurs will have a professional series they can continue to blossom and develop through while gaining the exposure and experience that is so valuable in today’s MMA” stated NAAFS representative Jake Digman.

The main event on March 31st will feature the long awaited showdown between Michigan’s Nate Carey (11-1) and Ohio’s Josh “Heavy” Hendricks (16-4) who is regarded by many as a top UFC prospect. Carey has come on of late and compiled an impressive 11-1 professional record while winning his last four fights by KO. Carey is as well rounded as they come but will have a collegiate All-American wrestler to deal with in Hendricks who has also put together an impressive streak while owning an unbeaten record in his last eight fights.

Jason “Freebird” Freeman (2-1) will look to stay on a roll as well when he faces his toughest test to date in West Virginia’s Jason “The Wrecking Ball” Jones (4-1) in a featured pro bout. Both fighters are known for their aggressive striking and devastating power which should make for a thrilling match-up with the winner likely fighting for the NAAFS Pro Series 205 lbs crown this June 9th.

In another featured pro bout, Cleveland’s own Donny “Eagle Eye” Walker (7-4) will look to avenge a loss to Team Gurgel’s Josh “Bam Bam” Souder (10-6) when these two lightweights square off for the NAAFS Pro Series Lightweight title. In addition to the Walker vs Souder fight, four of the regions top lightweights will also wage ware as part of a 4-man NAAFS lightweight contenders tournament which will showcase Mike “The Bull” Russo, Mike Boyd, and Torrance “The Tyrant” Taylor of Cleveland along with Brent Amon of Philadelphia, PA. The winners will meet on June 9th at Fight Nite in the Flats 3. Also expected to participate March 31st are former Gladiators Fighting MW champion Mitch Whitesel and the pro debut of 2006 NAAFS middleweight champion Taiwon “The Iron Dragon” Howard.

While March 31st marks the debut of the NAAFS professional series, the amateurs certainly won’t be forgotten on this night with many of the pre-season favorites will be in action. 2006 NAAFS HW Champion John “The Showstopper” Hedges will tangle with the highly touted Felix “The Cat” Catheline while Ricky “The Thriller” Miller will look to stay unbeaten in an NAAFS middleweight bout. Plus the return of Nicholas Duell, DJ Jacobucci and the highly anticipated rematch between top NAAFS welterweights Josh McBride and AJ Pulling of Team GriffonRawl.
