UFC to make its debut in San Jose, CA for UFC 138: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos

Last week, the LA Times reported that heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez would face Junior Dos Santos on November 19, 2011 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. San Jose has been home to the now UFC acquired, Strikeforce.

Gomi will face Diaz—but this time it’s Nate – and not Nick

The UFC announced on Monday that Gomi vs. Nate Diaz has been scheduled for UFC 135 on Sept. 17 in Denver, Colorado. Both fighters are coming off loses. Many fans can remember the now legendary bout between Nate’s older brother Nick and Gomi during 2007 where the two fought in PrideFC in one of the most popular fights of all time. Diaz won that fight via gogoplata, but it was later ruled a no-contest when he tested positive for marijuana. Nate Diaz will be returning to the 155-lb division after facing two loses at the 170-lb division earlier this year.

In case you missed it: UFC in “serious talks” to buy G4tv

On June 9, the Wall Street Journal reported that the UFC is in “serious talks” to acquire control of its own cable network. The UFC is looking to buy control of the NBC Universal owned G4 gaming network, which is allegedly struggling. NBC is hoping the deal can revamp its largely male demographic and bring the channel back to life.
