Paige Van Zant was the darling of the UFC for a minute as she surged through her first three UFC opponents finishing two out of her three wins. Then she was supposed to face off with Joanne Calderwood, but an injury to her opponent had her face off with former title contender Rose Namajuanas. Well, that did not go as planned as Rose took out Paige over the course of four round until she finally locked up a submission in the fifth round. She ha not been lined up with a fight since then but it has only been a little over two months since that fight. Rose has been lined up for a potential number one contenders fight in a rematch with Tecia Torres in mid-April.
Van Zant is off to a new challenge for now in the world of dancing with stars on ABC. She is teamed with Mark Ballas who has won the show twice and was in the final two in season 19 and third in season 18. This bodes well for Van Zant who has to be one of the more athletic females on the show considering the show is filled with an actress, a reality TV star, a weather caster, a business woman and a model. On the male side, there is two NFL players, a singer and a reporter. She is not the first UFC fighter to be on the show.
Randy Couture competed on the show in season 19 placing 11th while Chuck Liddell was in season 9 and placed 11th as well. She should for sure place farther than either of them considering there is only 12 participants in here season, but how far will she go? There is not a ton of cross over with her sport and the people that watch the reality show, but it should be fun to see how far she can takes this and maybe become the next crossover star of MMA.
