Quick Report from Brian Sesma

Speaking with Sesma, he said that he has been training very hard on his cardio because he believes that cardio is one of the most important attributes for a fighter. While at the On The Mat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu championships, I had the opportunity to speak with King of the Cage fighter Brian Sesma. Sesma is going to be fighting Manny Rodriguez in his next bout. Speaking with Sesma, he said that he has been training very hard on his cardio because he believes that cardio is one of the most important attributes for a fighter. Sesma said that he has seen too many fighters run out of energy in a fight and as a result lose a fight that they should have won. Sesma let me know that he will not run out of energy and feels that his cardio is so good he is ready to fight multiple opponents in one night.

Sesma’s training is not limited to just his cardio. In order to become a more rounded fighter, he has been working on his submission skills with Mike “Joker” Guyman. Sesma said that he has never been submitted in a fight and with his new improved submission skills; he said that Rodrigo will not be able to submit him. Brian told me that he has been working on his striking skills with Thai-boxer Jeremy Williams at the Apex training center. Sesma is known for his strength and now that he has leaned down to 217 Lbs he expects to be even quicker on his feet. Sesma told me that he is going to take Rodrigo to the ground and beat him into submission in the first round of the fight. Sesma feels that the fans will enjoy seeing a quick beat down of his opponent. As Sesma says, it is the fans that he is fighting for and he wants to make sure that they get to see a great show.

Brain has moved up quickly since starting his fighting career three years ago. Many sponsors have taken notice to his punishing style of fighting. Several sponsors who recently showed their desire to have their name attached to Brian are Rock Star Energy, Tap Out, Fairtex, Joker Machine, and Mutt Lynchs. Part of the reason could be Brian’s impressive record of 10- 3. This record is even more impressive when you realize that Brian is willing to take a fight at a moments notice and step into the cage with anyone.

I asked Brian if he is going to stay with the King of the Cage or is he looking to move to the UFC or Pride. Brian let me know that he is very happy with the way that has been treated in the King of the Cage events and he would like the opportunity to hold their world title before considering any other options. Brian Sesma is definitely a rising star in the sport and a fighter to keep your eye on.
