Rafael dos Anjos vs. Conor McGregor Set fr UFC 197

Well, Frankie Edgar it looks like you have been duped. Despite being promised a title shot after his scintillating performance against Chad Mendes where he knocked him out faster than Jose Aldo or Conor McGregor. Unfortunately, when McGregor knocked out Aldo in just 13 seconds he set his eyes on having two titles with his intentions to jump up to 155 for a title shot announced. It was no surprise and shows he is willing to challenge himself, but he will have a tough test in the form of Rafael dos Anjos.

Rafael dos Anjos has been on a tear since a 4-4 start to his UFC career. He is now on a 10-1 streak with his only loss coming to Khabib Nurmagomedov, but has since captured the Lightweight title and defended it once. In fact, in his current five fight win streak he has won three of the fight by TKO including a finish of Donald Cerrone in a little over a minute. Now, he takes on a fighter who has a meteoric rise tot he top of the MMA world and potentially two weight divisions.

Conor McGregor has only had seven fights in the UFC and finished all but one fight. That was a fight he was injured in and had to have an ACL surgery afterwards. McGregor captured the interim title first after knocking out Chad Mendes and then when to knockout long time champion Jose Aldo in under 15 seconds. He will look to be the first person to hold two UFC title at the same time when he faces of with RDA at UFC 197.

This is not the only title fight on the card, not by a long shot. We reported earlier this week that Holly Holm would get in a title fight before an eventual rematch with former champion Ronda Rousey. Well, she now has an opponent. Miesha Tate, who was promised a title shot before the UFC taking away, s a top contender with four straight wins over all top ten 135 female fighters. Now, she has a shot at the title and a potential third shot at Ronda Rousey hanging in the balance with a win in this fight. Will she finally capture UFC gold? Will McGregor capture his second title in a many fights? Who know, but it is a fun time to be a UFC fan.
