LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) announced yet another exciting bantamweight match-up on Wednesday afternoon that will take place at RFA 4 on Friday, November 2nd. The fight will feature two of the more popular bantamweight prospects in the sport, as Sergio "The Phenom" Pettis battles Jimmy "The Rabbit" Jones in an explosive 135-pound showdown.
Pettis, who is the younger brother of UFC star and former WEC champion Anthony Pettis, has been watched closely by MMA scouts from an early age due to the prodigious talent he inherited much like his older brother. Pettis made his amateur MMA debut at the age of 15 and went unbeaten in 4 fights. He then won his first 5 bouts since turning pro 12 months ago and the 19-year-old Duke Roufus protégé will look to continue that streak as he prepares to fight on the biggest stage of his young career.
Pettis will be fighting in the "Fight Capital of the World" of Las Vegas for the first time in his career against a man who is extremely popular and undefeated in Sin City. That man would be Las Vegas’ own Jimmy Jones, who is a former two-division amateur MMA champion in Las Vegas, while fighting for Tuff-N-Uff.
The 26-year-old Jones went on to win his first 4 bouts since turning pro in November 2010. His only career loss was a razor-close Split Decision this past January in the only fight where Jones did not fight in his hometown. Jones is no stranger to prodigious talent or famous MMA families, as he is good friends and teammates with Ryan Couture, who is the son of UFC Hall of Fame member Randy Couture. Jones began training under the elder Couture, when he opened Xtreme Couture MMA in Las Vegas in January 2007.
RFA 4 is set to be headlined by a light-heavyweight showdown pitting former UFC and PRIDE star Gilbert "The Hurricane" Yvel against former UFC and ADCC star Marcio "Pe De Pano" Cruz. The co-main event will feature two former UFC lightweight stars, as Tyson Griffin meets Efrain Escudero. These fights and more will take place at the Dallas Event Center inside Texas Station Gambling Hall & Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
