The Day of “El Technico”

US Open XI Day 2 In a day of standout performances on the mat, one performance definitely stood out: That of OTM’s own Paul Schriener. The Team Challenge featured Teams of blacks and brown belts vying for both title of top team and the prize of $3000. Paul was on the smaller side of the average, and being the brown belt on the team, at least on paper the least experienced. However he stepped up in a big way, being the only competitor who managed to submit both of his opponents, and in rather quick fashion as well! Modestly, Paul was quick to deflect praise to two more he felt were standouts on the day. Romulo Barros, competing on the victorious Team Gracie who once again looked amazing on the mat, and brown belt lightweight competitor Marcos Torregrossa who won his division in impressive fashion.
