The Great Southern California ShakeOut Open House with OTM and The International Green Shield Technology Fund

The International Green Shield (IGS) protects the people and the infrastructure of areas regularly affected by natural disasters through research and technology. IGS will launch in conjunction with The Great Southern California ShakeOut Nov 13-16th, 2008 and will be promoted in OTM Fight Shops across the Southwest US.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2008 — The International Green Shield (IGS) has been formed to help reduce the devastation of natural disasters and their effect on environment and community. In conjunction with The Great Southern California ShakeOut activities throughout Los Angeles and southern California counties, November 13-16, 2008, IGS will launch this initiative to fund scientific research, education and outreach efforts for areas hit by recurring natural disasters.

The US Geological Survey in collaboration with 3N Corporation has produced and presented the scientific repercussions of the “Big One”, choosing the San Andreas Fault line in Los Angeles, Riverside and Ventura Counties as the next mostly likely occurrence of a major earthquake. IGS will present access to this presentation during their launch and offer educational materials about personal, family and organizational safety measures related to pre-quake and post-quake conditions.

The IGS launch will be featured at over a dozen OTM Fight Shops covering the majority of high risk earth quake regions, November 13-16, 2008. To add entertainment to the mix each OTM location will feature independent MMA films throughout the day. This fun, educational environment is also host to visiting Professional Athletes for Environmental Cause. Invited athletes include Gina “Conviction” Carano, Frank “The Legend” Shamrock, Huntington Beach Bad Boy Tito Ortiz, Affliction’s Josh Barnett, MTV True Life’s Kit Cope….and more. In some stores a kid’s corner will showcase kid-focused disaster awareness activities and show off a holiday collection of martial arts and grappling training gear. Admission is free and open to the public.

All fans and their families are encouraged to participate to raise awareness of a known threat to our environment. OTM promises to provide a positive atmosphere with a fun twist to achieve this effort.
