UFC 187 has been announced for Las Vegas, Nevada on May 23rd and will feature two title fights at the Light-Heavyweight and Middleweight divisions.
UFC 187 will not only hold those great main event and co-main events, but it will also have a pivotal Heavyweight and Flyweight fights as well.
UFC 187: Main Event
Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson
Jones may have tested positive for cocaine but he already has another fight lined up. He will take on former Welterweight Anthony Johnson who captured his title fight by knocking out former number one contender Alexander Gustafsson. It should make for an interesting bout due to Johnson’s spectacular knockout power and wrestling skills.
UFC 187: Co-Main Event
Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort
A fight that has been lined up multiple times but injuries and everything else under the sun have postponed it. Now, it will take place in March, so the Middleweight division can finally move on. The winner here has a long and active road ahead of them with multiple fighters gunning for the next title shot.
UFC 187: Prelims
Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
The potential for the next number one contender at Lightweight could come from this fight. Cerrone has strung together seven straight wins including a win over former champion Benson Henderson, undefeated Myles Jury and former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez.Nurmagomedov has won six straight in the UFC but is undefeated with 19 straight wins. Whoever wins this goes on the face the champion at 155.
Travis Browne vs. Andrei Arlovski
In another potential number one contenders fight, Arlovski has a chance to fight for the title after being counted out by everyone. He came back to the UFC with a tepid win over Brendan Schaub, but a huge knockout over Antonio Silva gave his career a second win. Browne slipped up against Fabricio Werdum but still is one of the best in the division and beating a former champion helps his fight campaign.
Joseph Benavidez vs. John Moraga
This sia just a fight between two people waiting for the title to switch hands. Both have losses to current champion Demetrious Johnson and no one is really clamoring to see them face the champion again. Still a good match between two fighters at the top of the Flyweight division.
