Finally, Cat Zingano will come back to….. the Octagon. That is right, the woman everyone picked to defeat Ronda Rousey will make her return to the cage at the year’s biggest event UFC 200 this July. Zing will only have fought twice in over three years by the time this fight happens and one of those fights lasted 14 seconds. No,w she takes on TUF winner and Bar brawler Julianna Pena.
Zingano was an undefeated prospect when she signed with the UFC and took on Miesha Tate in her UFC debut. She nearly lost but came back from the edge of defeat to take out Tate and secure herself a spot as a female coach opposite Rousey on TUF. Unfortunately, that did not happen as she was injured and had to sit out a year while rehabbing her ACL. Then she came back and beat current number one contender, agains comeback in that fight, to reassert herself as the true contender to Rousey’s title. Another armbar ended that fight early and she has not fought since but no one would blame her since she is still reeling from the loss of her child’s father.
Pena is another fighter that knows about injuries considering after she won her season of TUF she had to sit out nearly a year and a half before returning to the cage. She came back with a vengeance and won her first fight by TKO and then took out Jessica Eye by decision. Then again if she can get past Cat Zingano with a win she may not be as far off as we think especially with the champion defending her belt not he same card. This should eb a fun fight to watch.
