Well, do not get ahead of ourselves, but all signs point to the UFC adding a third women’s division. Dana has mentioned that another Women’s division would not be out of the question after the undoubtable success of the first two, but the problem is if the UFC can support three weight classes of women spread across 20 pounds. Obviously, the Strawweight can be supported as there are many challenger in that division, but the Bantamweight division is pretty thin and they already have fights line dup at 145 because of Cyborg hopping into the Octagon. Now, they have their first fight at 125.
Valarie Letourneau fresh off her title loss will go up ten pounds to 125 to take on Joanne Calderwood of TUF fame. Letourneau had won three straight on her way tot he title shot but has not been seen since that loss. She has fought heavier before having been all the way up to 135 for fights before.
laderwood returned after losing her sophomore UFC fight by submission to pic up a decision victory. These two will pack on ten pounds and meet in the cage at UFC Fight Night 89 this July. It is seen as a test run, but how would want to see a new division in the UFC?
