UFC News and Notes: Fight Announcements
UFC 182 has a new match up. Omari Akhmedov will look to rebuild after a recent loss to Gunnar Nelson. Before that loss he had won 11 straight including a knockout win in his Octagon Debut in November of last year. He is set to face off against Mat Nilsson who is dropping down from Middleweight. he lost his Octagon debut to TUF vet Luke Barnatt by KO in the first round.
UFC Fight Night Sydney also had a change up on the undercard. Originally, Neil Seery was supposed to take on Richie Vaculik, but an injury has forced Seery out of the bout. Now, Louis Smolka has stepped into the Flyweight fight. Smolka suffered the first loss of his career to future title contender Chris Cariaso after going 7-0 including a win in the UFC. Vaculik sits at 10-2 with a record of 1-1 in the Octagon.
UFC News and Notes: Returns
While rumors of GSP and Brock Lesnar returning are constantly swirling there are some legitimate fighters that will see a return to the Octagon every one should be excited about. First and foremost, every girl on this season of TUF will see the inside of the Octagon at the final even if they are not fighting for the title. The only one out is Justine Kish who is still recovering from an ACL injury.
A top five Welterweight will be returning to the fold in early 2015 as well.That is right well after a year after his injury, Carlos Condit will be returning to the Octagon. There is no date or opponent set, but the former interim champion will come back. He will pose a threat if he can return back at 100 percent.
UFC News and Notes: Contracts
Anderson Silva may have had more than seven fights left on his contract, but for the former Middleweight champion that may not be enough. He said he voided his contract and now has a 15 fight contract. If that is true no one has confirmed, but that is crazy if true.
