Has the distinction as the first American to ever be awarded the rank of Black Belt in BJJ and thus the firstmember of the 'Dirty Dozen'.
he was a student and instructor at the Gracie Academy in Torrance for many years and received his black belt from Royler Gracie while in Brazil. Had a falling out with Renzo Gracie and then left the bjj scene. Is teaching in Boise, Idaho.
