Gilbert "The Hurricane" Yvel (June 30, 1976-) is a Dutch mixed martial arts fighter. He is associated with the Golden Glory training camp in the Netherlands. He has a professional MMA record of 27-10-1 as of June 12, 2005.
Yvel caused controversy in November 2004 when during a fight with Atte Backman, he knocked the referee to the ground and subsequently kicked him as he lay prone on the matt. Yvel was disqualified for his actions.
Previous to this Yvel has been disqualified twice, against Karimula Barkalaev in May 1998 for biting and in September 2001 in a bout with Don Frye for eye gouging.
These incidents have left Yvel with a reputation as an aggressive and sometimes dirty fighter.
