Matt Serra

Trained by world renowned Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Master Renzo Gracie. As a purple belt, Matt won 1st place at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American games in 1999. From there, Matt went on to win a gold medal at the 1999 World Championships in Brazil as a brown belt. Continuing a successful Martial Arts career, he competed in one of the worlds most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu events, The Abu Dhabi Championships. Matt was soon recognized as one of the worlds best submission fighters.
Matt was a member of the cast of The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback, winning all of his fights to earn a fight with Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight (170lbs) Championship. Serra won the fight but ultimately lost his title to St. Pierre in the rematch roughly a year later.
Matt, with his brother Nick, owns and operates two BJJ schools in New York. One in East Meadow and one in Huntington.
