Born September 27, 1974 in The Republic of Singapore, Singapore, Piet Wilhelm is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm. Piet is the first family member of the Wilhelm’s to enter the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

The Singapore native was a three-sport star in high school-- All-State swimmer, All-State track and field, and USMMA Smoker's Champion. Piet received a full athletic scholarship to college to swim and row on a crew team for a degree in Marine Transportation. He began studying Karate when he was five years old and gave it up for boxing and MMA.

Piet trained in 10 different forms of martial arts/disciplines such as Kenpo (8th Kyu Orange Belt), Ju Jitsu (2nd degree Black Belt), L.I.N.E. Instructor, Marine Corps Close Combat Instructor, Marine Corps Martial Arts (1st degree Instructor Trainer Black Belt), Boxing, Goju Kyokai (1st degree Black Belt), Zanshindo (Orange Belt), American Federation of Ju Jitsu Black Belt, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Brown Belt).

Piet began his Jiu-Jitsu training over 10 years ago. He jumped around from instructor to instructor from 1994 to 2005 before settling down with Renato Tavares from American Top Team. Since the passing of Piet’s father, Renato has been a mentor and father figure to Piet.

In 1996 he went into the Marine Corps to serve his country in the infantry field and later became the head Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor at a Headquarters Battalion. As a U.S. Marine at the time Piet competed in Mixed Martial Arts events under different names in order to maintain his military status. After his honorable discharge Piet and his wife Summer opened their second MMA School in Tulsa, Oklahoma later converting it to an MMA/BJJ Academy.

Piet and his wife were the first to come up with a structured MMA curriculum for the Tulsa area. They provide a unique format which makes learning easier and comprehensive. The Wilhelm’s are the founders of The Triton Fight Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They intend on opening another training facility in Broken Arrow and Costa Rica in the near future.
