Sérgio Penha

Was known for submitting black belts in Brazil back when he himself was just a purple belt.

He is renowned for having given Rickson Gracie his toughest challenges.

A match was proposed by Helio after seeing the success Sérgio was having in competition. The only stipulation was that Sérgio's master, Oswaldo Alves, had to promote him to Black Belt in order for the match to take place. He did, and the match was a legendary one. Sérgio was up on points almost the entire match against Rickson and had him in trouble until the lights went out at the tournament. Once the lights were fixed, Rickson was able to submit him with very little time remaining.

Sergio currently teaches at the Las Vegas Combat Club.
