Soul Cup

The Soul Cup Tournament since 2005 has been an annual Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu event for the Philadelphia Jiu-Jitsu Community. In 2005, the promoter "little" Tony, organized a submission grappling touranment for beginners (Under 1 years experience). Major product sponsors such as: Ouano International, Onthemat.com, Na Guarda Kimonos, M Kimonos, Soulfight Kimonos and regional sponsors helped make Soul Cup 1 a major success.

Soul Cup II was a little different, however. The second event was a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team Tournament held in Philadelphia, PA and Los Angeles, Ca on the same day. White and Blue Teams of 5 competitors, and teams of 3 Purple Belts made up a complete team to represent an academy. Each team had to have all the fighters make a team weight. The by products of the SOUL CUP II saw the best fighters compete; not the heaviest ones. Everyone had at least 3 matches or more. In 2006, sponsors were Ouano International, Onthemat.com, Soulfight Kimonos, Jiu-Jitsu PRO Gear, Defense Soap, International Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and many regional sponsors. The Soul Cup II promoters were Rose Gracie and "little" Tony Pacenski.

The SOUL CUP Touraments will continue to be the working man's event that brings the Jiu-Jitsu community together in a positive way. The price to compete and the vibes at the tournament makes each SOUL CUP worth the labor for the promoters.
