Tom McGonigal

Tom McGonigal is currently a 2nd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Marcos Santos and has been teaching martial arts at [http://www.Matrats.net Tom Mcgonigals Mixed Martial Arts for over 17 years. Tom started his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training under Royler Gracie and Royce Gracie, and traveled to Brazil to study under the Helio Gracie Academy. Tom trained with the Gracie’s until reaching four stripe blue belt. He continued his training under the expertise tutelage of Francisco Mansor and finally Marcos Santos and the Machado brothers. Tom was fortunate to have trained with some of the most prominent Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners in the world.

Tom’s martial arts background includes a 4th Degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, and the first American to travel to France and achieve the prestigious title of Silver Glove in Savate. Tom fought as an amateur in Savate and went on to fight as a professional in kickboxing with a record of 24-5-1. The McGonigal Fighting System was established based on Tom’s experience in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Tang Soo Do, Kickboxing, and Savate.
