TESTIMONIALS
Chris Cowboy (Purple Belt) – San Diego, California – USA: “Thank you for theopportunity and hospitality you all showed me while I was in Brazil. It wasan AMAZING time. This was my 3rd trip to Brasil and by far the most fun andinformative BJJ experience I have ever had. I left the camp with manyincredible memories of the people and places that we met. The level of allof the instructors and facilities of both BTT & Nova Geracao were thebest!!! I left with so many new techs it was like being at an epic BJJseminar everyday. The camp structure and information that was presented to usdaily was also incredible. Everything was laid out perfectly everyday inclear and concise instructions and we were kept extremely busy. The hoteland activities were great and more than we expected. I would HIGHLYrecommend this camp to anyone that wants to truly experience Rio and taketheir game to the next level! Don’t miss out on this experience! “
Jack Forbes (Blue Belt) – Las Vegas, Nevada – USA: ” When you sum all up, Ihad great time at BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp. Training with BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp wasall that. I had hoped for and more. The instruction was expertly detailed, well explained and presented in a friendly manner. Everyone went out oftheir way to help my “game” improve. BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp has definitely takenmy Jiu Jitsu to the next level. My hat is tipped to instructors and staff. They gave an experience to remember. I give them my thanks. Hey guys, I willbe back!”
AGAIN!! Jack Forbes (Blue Belt) – Las Vegas, NV – USA: “I had a pleasure ofattending the May (2006) BTT Camp. It was a tremendous experience. I enjoyedit so much that I came back for July’s (2006) Camp. Prior to returning toRio I didn’t think that the Camp could be any better. I was wrong! RodrigoAntunes (Camp Director) outdid himself this time around.
This time we stayed an Barra Beach. Definitely one of the premier beaches inthe world (I am 55 and have been around. so I do not make that statementlightly). We began our day with 2 hours private trains with Ze Mario Sperryhimself. We covered techniques, theory, and submissions. Ze Mario Sperry isa outstanding “Professor” who loves to share his knowledge. After “Ze Mario”off to the BTT training center in Rio for general training and grappling. Inthe afternoon, the beach or the Health Club (Academia da Praia). What a day!
Combine all this with friendly brazilian people, awesome food, a great hoteland you have a Five Star Jiu-Jitsu vacation experience.
You are the best. I’ll be back (again)!
Ethan Day (Purple Belt) – Kansas City (USA): “I am a purple belt from theUnited States currently living in Ipanema and training at BTT in Rio. SinceI arrived four months ago, I couldn’t be happier with the quality ofinstruction I’ve received here at BTT. I had always heard that the level ofJiu-Jitsu in Rio was the highest in the world and while training at BTT,I’ve come to understand why. In every class there is a wide variety oflevels from beginners to seasoned black belts and the instructors do anexcellent job of understanding the technical needs of everyone in class. Theprecise attention to detail, level of competition, and instruction that Ihave received at the BTT academy has been above my expectations.
I had always wanted to train Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil and visit Rio de Janeirosince I began training over five years ago. Before arriving, I didn’t speakany Portuguese or know anything about Rio. I was relieved when severalinstructors and students who spoke English were able to help me communicate, find a place to stay, and show me around the city. BTT is right in betweenIpanema and Leblon. It’s one of the best areas in Rio to stay in for safety, food and beaches. In addition to the training, everyone here has treated mereally well and I’ve always felt welcomed and accepted as part of the team.
I’ve had a completely positive experience. I’ve trained with and talked tomany of the BTT Camp participants who felt the same way I did about thetraining and their experiences in Rio with the Brazilian Top Team. The BTTcamp is an ideal vacation for training Jiu-Jitsu and experiencing Rio deJaneiro.”
Robert Hugus (Black Belt) – Plattsburg, New York – USA: “I would definitelycome for another edition and I am going to recommend it to my friends. Thetraining and attitudes of everyone at your school is excellent. We feltlike a part of the team. Maybe next time I can set up a week long visitwith my girlfriend to come with me.”
Rune Brinckmeyer (White Belt) – DENMARK: “JJ Camp promised a chance to rollwith some of the best BJJ players and delivered. Both training sites BTT &Nova Geração, provided a rare opportunity to train with really skilledpeople that are on the top of their game. Both places managed to present afriendly and relaxed environment, without ever compromising training focusand a serious approach to the learning process. I found the instructorshighly inspirational, the focus on technique, form and training drills to betop-notch. Instructors and students of the academies had every intention tomake me a better player, showing attention to the fact that people aredifferent, and thus needs to strengthen different parts of their game.Definitely a camp I would like to return to! It met and even exceeded myhighest hopes for it, obviously with respect to BJJ, but also in terms oflearning a little about how cariocas (the people of Rio) go about importantbusiness such as beach- and party activities as well! Coming as a WhiteBelt, I got away with a lot of insight on how the landscape of BJJ looks, and I am eager to explore it given this new knowledge. I’ll be back!”
Ben Gavin (Blue Belt) – Boston, MA – USA: “The Brazilian Top Team Jiu-jitsucamp was an experience of a life time. I can honestly say I have neverexperienced more in depth training and instruction then the training Ireceived while attending the Brazilian Top Team camp. The Brazilian Top Teamstaff is some of the most talented individuals in regards to their level ofexperience in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and also their willingness to share theirexperiences and ability with us. The camp offers a chance to get detailedinstruction that you cannot find anywhere else. Only now do I realize thatin my own Jiu-jitsu career, I have only just scratched the surface ofBrazilian Jiu-jitsu.”
David McConkley (Blue Belt) – Ireland – ” I have just attended the recentJiu Jitsu Camp and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. From themoment I got off the plane, the staff was extremely welcoming andaccommodating. The instructors had everything planned and taken care of fromthe first day and immediately i got a good feeling about the instructors. They were extremely friendly and genuine. The Jiu Jitsu classes wereexcellent and the level of coaching was extremely high. The standard andattention to detail of coaching was so high that it was impossible not toimprove your game.
I was extremely happy with the training but the extra activities wereexcellent also. We got to see all the known sights such as the sugar loafand the Christ statue. We even took in a football match at the Maracanã,which for me was one of the many highlights of the trip.
I would have absolutely no hesitation recommending the camp to anybody. Theinstructors are excellent and the pupils are very friendly and helpful – anexcellent environment to learn. It is an excellent opportunity to train atone of the best clubs in the world and also and opportunity to make goodfriends. I for one will definitely return to Brazil at some stage to take mytraining to the next level again! “
Johnny Zemouli (promoted to Blue Belt) – Cannes, FRANCE: “I would likethanks everybody for this Camp, I improved my skills so much. Brazilian areso friendly and the atmosphere so cool. This camp is not good only forjiu-jitsu but also to live like a brazilian and fell like a carioca (naturalfrom Rio de Janeiro). Thank you to everyone and you’re all welcome inFrance”. * After the JiuJitsuCamp, Johnny decided to stay two more months inRio and improved more and more, we had no doubt.promoted him to a BTT BlueBelt. Congrats, Johnny!
Michael Zenga (Blue Belt) – Boston, Massachusetts – USA – “As an attendee ofthe May ’06 Jiu Jitsu Camp, I can say that the camp more than exceeded myexpectations. The staff made great efforts to make sure that we could enjoyRio de Janeiro as much as possible. Throughout the trip, we ate atterrific, healthy restaurants and avoided tourist traps. We were able tosee the major attractions of the city including the Corcovado, Sugarloaf, aswell as Ipanema Beach, however the sights didn’t stop there. We werepersonally escorted through favelas (ghetto neighborhoods) and taken to awild soccer game unlike any one would experience in the US. Withoutquestion, the only way to see Rio is to be shown by a lifelong resident.
The level of Jiu Jitsu was unlike anything I have seen in the US. Jiu JitsuCamp participants get the chance to roll with dozens and dozens of blackbelts and/or professional fighters (many we have heard of) who are intent onhelping them improve their games. The attention to detail by all students inthe school was terrific. One could not possibly come to the camp and not getbetter.
Mike Saint (White Belt) – Aberdeen, SCOTLAND: “I think that what amazed methe most about the whole experience is that you are training with worldclass fighters and you are treated as an equal. Everyone is very friendlyand extremely generous with their time, everyone I met was happy to help goover techniques.
The accommodation is excellent and you have ample opportunity to spend timein one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It really is an experiencenot to be missed.”
