Charles Oliveira is a very good fighter despite having not been able to get over the hump when it comes to big fights. Still, at 145 he is 7-3 with his only losses coming to Frankie Edgar, Cub Swnson when he was injured and Max Holloway where he had a freak accident that stopped the fight early. In his wins, he has stopped all of them but one with a submission. His only win via decision was over the very tough Jeremy Stephens and he even submitted fellow grappling ace Hatsu Hioki.
He off a big win over myles Jury, even though he missed weight, and is calling for a big fight his next time to the cage due to his state as a ranked in the top ten Featherweight. He wants on the next UFC Brazil card against Brain Ortega, Cub Swanson or Max Holloway. I do not see him getting the Holloway high despite them having unfinished business because Holloway has won too many fights and should be next in line.
Swanson makes sense due the the rematch coming-out four years after their first fight which even though is TKO victory for Swanson really should be due to a TKO but Oliveira chose to fight on a bad leg. Oliveira was part of Swanson’s six fight win streak which ended in a submission loss to Edgar and Holloway. he returned after a year layoff to take on Hacran Dias and capture a decision victory for his first win in nearly two years.
Ortega is undefeated with 11 straight win, despite having win overturned due to a fail drug test. Since that failed test, he has won three straight all finishes over the likes of Thiago Tavares, Diego Brandao and Clay Guida. With that resume in just three fights he is sure to challenge someone high up so it might as well be Oliveira. Whoever he fights all three seem exciting so hopefully the UFC grants his wish.
