Davi Ramos has been in the jiu jitsu for a fair amount of time by now, he has proven himself time and time again to be quite the difficult opponent. He’s even racked up a large number of wins against many huge names in the sport, including guys like Augusto Mendes, Kayron Gracie, Lucas Lepri, JT Torres, AJ Agazarm and many, many others. He recently made his UFC debut against a formidable opponent in the form of Sergio Moraes, whom he lost to via unanimous decision… However, according to Ramos, he didn’t actually train for the fight and will be dedicating his life, for the moment to training for the UFC. This makes his upcoming fights even more exciting to look forward to.
“I’m waiting for the confirmation of my next fight, waiting for the contract,” Ramos says. “I believe (my next UFC fight) will be close (to the ADCC), so my coaches decided that it’s better to turn my focus back to MMA. I really wanted to compete at the ADCC, but I have to respect my coaches.”
Since he was on vacation for the weeks leading up to the fight, he only had to time to dedicate to cutting for the few days before.
“The lesson I learned with that fight is that I have to respect my coaches when following a strategy that that’s not the same I usually use,” Ramos said. “I wanted to submit him, but I had to hold back because I didn’t train for that fight. I worked out twice to cut 15 pounds on short notice, so I couldn’t train. The lesson I learned is that I can also trust in my striking as much as I trust in my jiu-jitsu.”
“I’ll do a lot better next time,” he added. “I can’t wait for it. This time I’ll be well-trained.”
Oh, in case you were doubtful of this man’s “beastness,” here’s quick highlight vid of him.
