First impressions of BJJ

I am taking a master’s course in relationship management and the class participated in an exercise at the end of class that I thought was quite interesting.  The idea is to get a first impression of a stranger, whether it is what you said, your body language, your tone of voice, etc.  You introduce yourself and answer a question from a list then collect the the one word impression written by your peers on a post-it.  When it was my turn, I got up to the front of the class…"Hi my name is Debbie, and one of my favorite hobbies is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu."

Here are the responses in the order received, keep in mind that these are Engineering students:

Secure, Defensive, Free Flowing, Focused, Active, Motivated, Athletic, Bad-Ass, Strong, Fun, Approachable, Violent, Different Choice, Kick Ass, Motion, Nice, Athletic, Fighter, Proactive, Confident, Good, Very Different, Quick, Strong

Interesting, huh?

‘Til next time
