Frank Mir Versus Todd Duffee is now set for summer for no particular card, but it shows mir’s willingness to fight anyone no matter their ranking.
Frank Mir Versus Todd Duffee is a big fight because no one wanted to fight Duffee who has proven he could wreck anyone.
Everyone thought that Frank Mir was done in the sport after a losing title bid when Junior dos Santos had the belt and then three subsequent losses. He was knocked out in two of those four losses that came to Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett and Alistair Overeem. He took a year off to heal and rest, then he came back and knocked out former number one contender Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in a little over 90 seconds. Mir has a lot of miles on his body at the age of 35, but he knows better than anyone else how to turn a career around.
Todd Duffe is another fighter that knows how to turn his career around. Duffee left the UFC after a dominating performance but knockout loss to Mike Russow and followed that up by being finished by Alistair Overeem. A year and a half layoff followed that and he came back to knockout his next opponent and resign with the UFC where he knocked out Phil de Fries. Then another two year layoff followed that and he came back this past December. At UFC 181, he took on Anthony Hamilton where he knocked him out in just over 33 seconds.
Frank Mir versus Todd Duffee will take place sometime this summer with the clash of old and new in the heavyweight division. Whoever comes out on top will secure their spot in the top 10 of the division if not maybe the top five. This will be just in time for the new pay system for UFC uniforms which will be put in place July of this year.
