Future Champions at Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear Open

Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear Open…

Yesterday I went up to cover a little bit of the Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear Open in San Clemente, California. I was driving to the tournament with expectations of the tournament starting late, weight in’s being a hassle, and just a long day for everyone. When I arrived to the gym I realized that both Gilberto Faria (owner of Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear) and black belt Paulo Guillobel owner of Guillobel San Clemente academy have put together a well organized tournament for competitors and their families. I walked around a bit to get the vibe of the tournament, what I saw and felt was great. Parents were watching close to the demonstration of the rules, other family member were just happy to be there, and the competitors were excited. I felt the tournament was a great tournament for everyone, ran on time throughout the whole day with little bumps here and there but that is expected.

I went up to the tournament wanting to watch the kids and give them a little highlight video & some photos. I felt that everyone always covers the adults at the tournaments and forgets the young boys & girls who are fighting just as hard as they are, let’s be honest the kids are the future of the sport and are what’s going to make it grow. So I decided to take pictures and film of them. This being the first tournament were I have been to where parents & coach were not fighting with each other and it was just fun to watch. The kids seemed to be having a great time and just happy to be competing against other kids. For instance Miko from Gracie San Diego, who had two match yesterday winning one & losing the other, but no matter win or lose he smiled and laughed the hole time he was on the mat, it just goes to show that the kids love the art of Jiu Jitsu.
Great teams came from all over California; I saw teams such as Paragon, Riberio Jiu Jitsu, Gracie San Diego, and Carlson Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. So Below I posted the video and a few pictures from yesterday. Have a great week see you at the next tournament.
