Future Fights UFC Fight Night 71 will tell you who we think the winners and losers of this weekday card should fight in their next bout. Do you agree?
Future Fights UFC Fight Night 71: Winners
Frank Mir vs. Fedor
This is the fight that needs to happen. Everyone always pointed to Couture as Mr. UFC, but with his last two performances, Mir has proved to be a man of reinvention. From leg breaks to losing streaks and a 14 year UFC career, Mir is the man to face Fedor when he signs with the UFC. A win in a fight like that puts either one win away from a title shot.
Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov
This fight will put both of their six fight winning streaks on the line. If Khabib can stay injury free Ferguson seems like the logical choice for his next fight regardless of if it yields a title shot or not.
Holly Holm vs. Alexis Davis
Holm is slowing coming into her own int he UFC but her ground game is still big question mark. Davis is the second best ground fighter in the UFC outside of Rousey so this fight is the next step.
Kevin Lee vs. Dustin Poirier
Lee deserves the respect and what comes with that is a match that can get him noticed. Poirier has made some waves in his return to 155, but he is only two fights into it. Lee has won four straight so the pairing makes sense for both fighters in their goal.
Alan Jouban vs. Jorge Masvidal
This has violence written ll over it. If you don’t want to see this, then go ahead and watch a different sport.
Jessica Andrade vs. Cat Zingano
Andrade needs that signature win to propel her to the top ten of the division. Zinging is coming off a very big loss but fighting one of the more experienced women at 135 sounds like a good return plan.
Future Fights UFC Fight Night 71: Losers
Josh Thompson vs. Diego Sanchez
If Thompson wants to continue fighting he needs to get his feet back underneath him after losing three straight fights. Sanchez is a veteran of the sport and an interesting fight.
