Are you taking full advantage of all the features that OTM has to offer?Pssst! Are you really taking full advantage of all the features OntheMat.com has available? We have a fully school database, calendar and news pages, all available for FREE. If you’re an event promoter or an instructor you’d be silly not to post your information on one of the most visited and respected sites on the net!
We’re always happy to post announcements and news to News Section. We have a calendar of events that list all events that are submitted to us! We have a user updatable links section! We even have a school database which you can enter your information and even upload your logo! Did we mention this is entirely for free?!? Thousands of people visit OntheMat.com every single day. You can immediately increase your visibility by putting your information on OntheMat.com!
Posting on the News and Calendar Section
Send your event information and a graphic to Gumby@onthemat.com to get posted on the News Page (http://onthemat.com/news.php) and the (http://onthemat.com/calendar.php )
The News section is usually updated within 24 hours of receiving the news item. Appropriate items for submission are event news (seminars, MMA, grappling, jiujitsu), school openings, belt promotions, website announcements, birthdays, etc. Heck, tell us how your training day went, we just might post that as well. All submissions must be include plain text format (so I can cut and paste it into our site). Graphics may be submitted but keep in mind they may be resized in order to fit the site.
A simple reminder is to make it as easy as possible for the editors to post the news. If you simply submit a graphic with important information embedded in the JPG we’re not able to cut and paste the information, there is a pretty good chance
Where appropriate, items submitted for the news section will also be added to the OTM calendar, although due to the fact that updating this section is a bit more involved, the actual update may occur a few days later.
As always listing in the News and Calendar section is done free of charge as a service to the community. If you are interested in having OntheMat sponsor or cover your event you can inquire by either Gumby@onthemat.com or use the forms at http://onthemat.com/contact_us.php
Product announcements will generally NOT be listed in the news and persons interested in advertising a product can either contact us to inquire about our paid advertising options, ask about being carried in our online store, or submit a product for review.
OTM features a searchable school database here:
School owners can submit their own school to the database here:
This is an excellent way of getting your school information out there to the thousands of visitors OntheMat receives each day, and once again, OntheMat.com does this as a free service.
Please include all important information. A photo or logo graphic may also be loaded in this section, but please remember to keep image file sizes to under 50K.
Note that all submission must be admin approved (usually takes about 24 hours or so).
Simple enough, if you have a webpage and want a link visit our links page at
In the left hand column is the submission form for a new links, choose an appropriate category and fill in the pertinent information. Simple, huh?
(The categories Gumby’s fav’s, Scotty’s fav’s and 101 Submissions Soundtrack are locked)
Note that once again all submissions must be admin approved (usually takes about 24 hours or so).
If you decide to list you link or school on OntheMat, we would definitely appreciate a link back on your website! There are large versions of our logo graphic located here
We get quite a few requests to write for OntheMat, and we’re happy to say that much of best content is reader contributed. The best way to get our attention is to submit a sample of work and/or offer to cover and event or interview a fighter we haven’t gotten around to yet.
OTM writers get the perks of writing for one of the internet’s best websites, they get the privilege of event passes and often get hooked up with free swag.
As an editorial policy we would NEVER alter the content or tone or wording of an article sent, we would either accept or reject the article (although we’re more than happy to work with you to obtain an “acceptable” article.) This might not seem a big concern unless you’ve seen you work published but completely bastardized (something we’ve unfortunately felt the sting of authorized and unauthorized alike).
Thanks for the support, and with your help we’ll continue to try to put up the best webpage possible dedicated to Jiu Jitsu, Submission Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts.
