Amman, Jordan- Headed by Zaid Mirza, Pedro Galiza and Jonatas Gurgel, Jordan Team is sending 36 Jiu-Jitsu athletes to participate in the 1st Super Asian Cup, which takes place next Friday the 14th in the prestigious Abu Dhabi Combat Club.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Zayed Bin Mohamad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the two day tournament is set to kick off on Friday Morning and the finals happening on Saturday.
:The number of participants (180) as well as the 30.000USD in prize money is a record for an event so far,” explained Mr. Carlos Santos the organizer of the event. The competitors/ team will include both the Jordanian National Team and theJordan Armed Forces BJJ team for the first time in history. “We have a very young and strong team for this tournament. I believe we have great chances to come in first place. For the first time, Jordan TV will air the tournament on TV. These events are great for the growth of BJJ in the region. Next February we will start the yearly Dead Sea BJJ circuit, it will be a great success”, stated Zaid Mirza, board secretary of the Jordanian Federation. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation of Jordan would like to thank the King Abdullah II Fund and KADDB for sponsoring the Jordanian Team.
