Memphis Judo & Jiu-Jitsu and its affiliates have been very busy with competitions all over the Southeast. Below are results, congratulations, upcoming November events and some very important notes.

************FIGHT NIGHT IV – BATTLE IN THE CAGE MMA***********On Friday, Sept. 28 at Cactus Jack’s in Memphis, TN Chad Chilcutt held the 4th installment of Memphis Fight Night. Thanks to Chad for putting on another great show.

Huge congrats to Doug Larson (3-0) & Tim Galluzzi (3-0) on their first round victories!!!!!!!! Awesome job guys.

*************PUNISHMENT AT THE PMAC**********On Saturday, Oct 13 at the PMAC in Baton Rouge, LA promoter and UFC veteran Rich Clementi hosted a Pro/Am event on the campus of LSU. Congratulations to Brian White (5-1) who won in impressive fashion by way of ref stoppage in the first round. Great job Brian!!!!

*************INFINITE COMBAT CHALLENGE MMA & MUAY THAI**********On Saturday, Oct. 20 at The Summit in Tupelo, MS promoter Mark Ramano hosted another great night of fights. Thanks to Mark for putting on another awesome show.

Congrats to Doug Larson (3-0), Brett Murphy (1-0), Tim Galluzzi (3-0), Perry Williams (1-0), Terry Robinson (3-0), Zach Branam (1-0) & Alex Valasquez (1-0).

**************2007 U.S. OPEN JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS ************Some of the world’s top Judoka were present at the US Open Judo Championships in Gwinnett, GA during the weekend of Oct. 19-21

Huge congrats to Blake Bobbitt & Ray Quiles who both placed earning a silver and bronze medal in the Masters 100+ kg category (30-34 yo). Mike Ostrowski also placed earning a silver medal in the Masters -73kg category (35-39 yo).


On Saturday, Oct. 27 the International Fight League (IFL) held open tryouts in Chicago, IL. Approx. 250 professional MMA fighters from all over the world tried out for 30 open spots for the 2008 IFL team draft. Evaluating the fighters were former UFC Champions Pat Militech and Maurice Smith as well as IFL talent scouts. Fighters were asked to demonstrate their skills with takedown drills, kickboxing, ground grappling and finally an all out 3 minute MMA match.

Huge congrats to Jonathan Burdine & John-David Shakleford for being selected by the IFL and these guys will be drafted by one the twelve IFL teams for the upcoming 2008 season!!!

**************ART OF WAR 4 PRO MMA***************On Saturday, Oct. 27 promoter Clyde Gentry brought one of the fastest rising MMA shows in the world to Grand Casino in Tunica, MS. This was an exciting show from start to finish with absolutely no fights ending by decision.

Huge congrats to Chris Gates (9-3) on his first round victory.

– We are still working hard and getting close to bringing Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to the state of Tennessee. The UFC Light Heavyweight Champ himself, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson is from Memphis TN and wants to help bring the UFC to Tennessee so he can battle it out in front of his home town crowd.In the upcoming months we will be meeting with House Representatives and State Senators to present our case for the rightful legalization and subsequent regulation in the state.
