TUF Brazil 4 coaches made headlines this week as two former champion have been named the coaches.
TUF Brazil 4 Coaches will be none other than former Light-heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and former Middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva.
This is interesting considering both are coming off losses and will be fighting before the prospective reality show season. Of course, it is a long shot either would be cut with another loss on their record, but it is starting to get tough to watch Shogun fight.
The former Light-Heavyweight champion has gone1-2 in his past four fights. His only win was over James Te Huna, while he has been knocked out by an over the hill Dan Henderson, submitted by the retired Chael Sonnen, and beaten down by number one contender Alexander Gustafsson. He was set to take on Jimi Manuwa in a striker versus striker match at UFC Fight Night 56 later this month, but an injury to Manuwa had him replaced by Ovince St. Preux who is coming off a loss to Ryan Bader by being out wrestled earlier this year.
Anderson Silva is returning from a near career ending leg snap injury from his second fight against current Middleweight champion Chris Weidman. When he return he will have not won a fight in over two years which is something he has never done in his whole career. Of course, they were able to lure Nick Diaz out of retirement to fight the former champion which is sure to create fireworks come this January.
When the coaches were announced the first question that popped to everyone’s mind was whether they will be fighting one another, but Dana White was quick to quell that talk on twitter. These two are known to be friends and it is always unlikely that they have two Brazilians face off in front of their home crowd. White said they will fight at the end of their season but against different opponents. One has to wonder who will they will fight and how the UFC can predict those matches with both of the coaches having upcoming fights. Who do you think the new TUF Brazil 4 Coaches should fight?
