UFC 195 Adds Lightweight Bout

UFC FIGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ROUNDUP

UFC 195 takes place on January 2nd in Las Vegas, Nevada and pits Robbie Lawler’s Welterweight title on the line against former interim champion Carlos Condit and the co-main event is a Heavyweight showdown between former champion Andrei Arlovski and current contender Stipe Miocic. Now, added to the fight is between Abel Trujillo and Tony Sims and this could be a showdown that determines who gets to keep their job.

Abel Trujillo is a great power puncher at 155 and has had some amazing fights. He made an immediate impact in his debut stopping his opponent with knees in the second round but was thrown to the wolves in his second bout when he took on Khabib Nurmagomedov and lost by decision. He won his next fight even though it was taken away by a no contest due to one illegal strike, but he made up for that with a TKO of the same opponent in the next fight and followed that up with a TKO over former WEC champion Jaime Varner. Unfortunately, he has not has had some rough times as of late with two submission losses in a row against Tony Ferguson and UFC Lightweight stalwart Gleison Tibau.

He will no face off with a more similar slide and experienced opponent in Tony Sims. Sims obviously has had a stellar career outside the UFC with an 11-2 record and like his current opponent, he made an immediate impact. He knocked out his opponent in his first fight in under three minutes, but he followed that up with a loss two months later by decision. While a loss doesn’t mean either of them will lose their job, it does certainly put them in the contention for getting dropped due to being in such a crowded division. Who do you think wins this fight?
