The UFC announced some big fights for this year this day. Which one is your favorite?
Dennis Bermudez is set to return to the cage after losing two straight fights and pulling out of his last bout. Before that he had won seven straight fights and was on the cusp of a title shot. Now, he will face off with Japanese legend Tatsuya Kawajiri. At the age of 37, Kawajiri does not have too many years left in the fight game, but he has made the most of his UFC career so far. Outside of his loss to Clay Guida,. he has gone 3-0 in the Octagon. While none of them were huge wins, a win over Bermudez will do a big things toward breaking into the top 15.
Despite being lost in his career as of right now, Joseph Benavidez is set for his next bout. The top Flyweight fighter has beaten everyone, not named Demetrious Johnson, he has come into contact with in the UFC going 10-2. Since his knockout lost to the champion, he has won four straight fights over mostly top ten fighters. He will be facing former bellator champion Zach Makovsky who is coming off a close loss to John Dodson.
Mark Hunt is fresh off his knockout win over Antonio Silva. This ended his drought of 1-3 record in his past four fights. He will face off with Frank Mir who has had a resurgence as of late knockout out the aforementioned Antonio Silva and Todd Duffee. Also, he fought a relatively boring fight to a close decision loss to Andrei Arlovski. It is very likely the winner of this fight might get into contention shortly in the very thin Heavyweight division.
Lastly, while not necessarily a fight announcement Nick Diaz settlement might be on the way. The former UFC Welterweight title contender could be lined up for a fight shortly depending on what happens when the athletics commission announces their decision to maybe over turn his five year suspension. If he can return, who would you like to see him fight next?
