Nick Diaz set to compete in a Jiu-Jitsu superfight at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo

LONG BEACH, California — The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo announced earlier today that Nick Diaz will be competing at their premier event next month in southern California.

The former Strikeforce welterweight champion will be competing in a Jiu-Jitsu superfight. The current UFC star and Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Cesar Gracie is renowned for his endurance, cardio, and technical grappling prowess in MMA, Jiu-Jitsu, and Submission Grappling competitions.

Recently, Diaz shocked many of his fans by announcing his retirement from MMA after a controversial decision loss to Carlos Condit in an interim welterweight title bout, which was the main event of UFC 143 in early February.

This had added some uncertainty to his future fighting career, despite comments from UFC president Dana White at a recent press conference saying "his popularity has never been bigger."

An opponent has not been chosen at this point. However, according to event president Renzo Gracie, "One thing is certain, this superfight will be one more unforgettable moment at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo!"

The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo is scheduled for Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California and will be the stage for all things Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
