Kurt “the Rhino” Osiander charges to Gold at PanAms – Black Belt Adult Finals Results

Long time OTM friend and athlete Kurt Osiander took home two new medals to his San Francisco Ralph Gracie academy after snatching up gold at weight and bronze in the absolute of the black belt senior 3 division. The “Move of the Week” star and legendary badass idol to the masses defeated both his heavyweight opponents on the way to gold.

Lucky Gi sponsored athlete, Rafael Lovato Jr, had one of his most controversial tournament experiences to date. In the quarterfinals, the black belt heavyweight defeated Igor Araújo on points. In the semifinals, Lovato Jr. had a close match against Checkmat’s newly appointed black belt Yuri Simoes. Lovato lost the match via referee decision: 2×1.

Black belt Mike Fowler, made his return to the competitive jiu-jitsu after a near two year hiatus. The Atos black belt, entered the ranks in the heavily stacked featherweight division. Fowler defeated his first two opponents, including Renan Borges via Brabo choke and again in the quarterfinals by 6-3 in points after a tough match against long time jiu-jitsu veteran “Megaton” Dias. He was defeated by Cobrinha in the semifinals, but still impressed and will return home to Hawaii with the bronze.

OTM’s newest addition to the family includes 19-year-old Adult Rooster Blue Belt, Woolf Barnato of Mikyo Riggs Jiu-Jitsu. Woolf dominated his division winning 5 matches, 3 by way of submission.  The young fighter has a near perfect competition record since starting jiujitsu three years ago.
