STEPHAN POTVIN TO FACE UFC VETERAN LUIGI FIORAVANTI AT APEX: EVOLUTION


APEX Championship Fighting is proud to announce that Stephan Potvin’s opponent inthe APEX: EVOLUTION main event is UFC Veteran and American Top Team member Luigi Fioravanti. Fioravanti is known as one of the most exciting fighters in the sport today and is coming off a decision loss to The Ultimate Fighter standout Chris Leben. The colorful Fioravanti is looking to erase that loss while Potvin is looking to make Luigi his forth victim in a row.


Also on the card is undefeated featherweight phenom Waggney Fabiano, who steps up and faces one of the most exciting featherweights in the world: Bao Quach. Quach has traveled the world over, fighting for some of the top MMA promotions, while facing some of the best talent in the division. He is ready to give the undefeated Fabiano all he can handle.


In a Light Heavyweight battle, one of Canada’s best kept secrets, Brent Beauparlant will be stepping up his competition and facing American Top Team member Lucas Lopes. Beauparlant is one of Canada’s most accomplished wrestlers and has traveled the globe training his MMA skills. Beauparlant’s international training stops include Thailand and Brazil, spending six months training with Chute Boxe and other Brazilian MMA teams. APEX Championship Fighting believes Beauparlant is ready for anyone who will be brought before him, and APEX: EVOLUTION is his next step.


Speaking of Evolution, Nabil “The Thrill” Khatib will be returning to the APEX ring. Khatib, one of Ottawa’s favourite sons, takes a step up in competition, taking on the multi-talented Ryan “Gatling Guns” Gabourie. While Khatib is known as a striker, he will be bringing a complete arsenal to the ring in hopes to offset the extremely talented Gabourie. Claude “The Prince’ Patrick also returns to the APEX ring to once again excite the fans with his incredible takedowns, Jiu-jitsu skills and viscous ground and pound assault.


In a special Heavyweight kickboxing bout, one of Toronto’s most popular kickboxers will make his return to APEX. The last time Wojtek “Kazz” Kaszowski was in an APEX ring, he brought the crowd to their feet with his whirlwind striking techniques and intends on repeating that performance. Kazz will be facing the veteran from Lethbridge, Alberta Lee “The Gladiator” Mein, who is the main instructor for some of Alberta’s top fighters.


APEX: EVOLUTION will be showcasing a bevy of local Ottawa and Gatineau warriors. Defending the National Capital Region are Mark Holst (OAMA), Jason Motard (Igor Yakimov), Sean Ragnitz (Ronin MMA) and Jeff Montmurro (Ronin MMA). There are also a handful of athletes from across Canada and the United States. Some of the fighters scheduled to appear are Tyler Jackson (Revolution), John Mahlow (MASH), Dan Grandmaison (APEX Martial Arts), Eric Beaulieu (BTT Canada), Mike Hong (BAMA / Hurricane JJ), Shaun Krysa (Borelands) and many of Canada’s top young stars.

APEX TRAINING CAMP NEWSOn April 22nd, 2006, APEX held their first ever MMA Auditions in Mississauga, Ontario. On this day, APEX discoverd many fighters who the APEX team found were ready to enter the APEX ring. At APEX: EVOLUTION, we are proud to announce that Jason Motard (Igor Yakimov), Jordan Jewell (BAMA / Hurricane JJ), Andrew Redden (Team Bocek) and Aiteka Ukonga (Keep 6) earned a spot on this incredible card and will do battle on June 10th. APEX has also signed Ilya Woronowski, who will be making his MMA debut at the next APEX event.


APEX: GENESIS DVD AVAILABLEAPEX Championship Fighting is proud to announce that their inauguralevent “APEX: GENESIS” will be available for sale at “APEX: EVOLUTION” on June 10th, 2006 at the Palais des Congres in Gatineau. “APEX: GENESIS”was an historic night, as fans in attendance were fortunate to see the talents of Ivan “The Pride of El Salvador” Menjivar as he took on Ryan Ackerman., In the ‘Battle of Giants’ American Bad Boy Wes “The Project” Sims took on Montreal native, Ricardeau Francois. Also featured on the card were UFC Veterans Tony “The Freak” Fryklund and Steve Berger, Team Quest members Matt “Suave” Horwich and Ryan Schultz, sensational strikers Antony Rea and “Bad” Brad Blackburn, as well as many of Canada’s top competitors.
