About Gracie Combatives™ for Law EnforcementThe Gracie Combatives for Law Enforcement Instructors Certification Course is the most influential Defensive-Tactics Program of all time. Graduates will received the coveted Gracie Combtaives™ Instructors Certification. Gracie Combatives™ focuses on arrest and control, weapon retention and on leverage and technique over strength and size. Techniques are proven effective in the real world and at the same time, simple to learn and apply. Student will gain confidence in closing with a Suspect, as well as using restraint first and lethal force as a last option. A Gracie Combatives™ Certified Instructor has the benefit of having Rorion Gracie available to them, their students or organization, as an expert witness in excessive force law suits.

Overview of Gracie Combatives™• Training is 4 days, at 7.5 hours per day, for a total of 30 hours.• Students will learn approximately 23 stand up and ground-fighting techniques and how to apply these techniques in the most common threat scenarios in the field, as well as teach these techniques to others.• Prepare Officers/Agents for Close Quarters/Defensive-Tactics scenarios.• Time of Training: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm & 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm (Lunch 12:00 pm -1:00 pm). Instructors may adjust training times and techniques as needed. Please consult with the Gracie Academy, at least one week prior to training dates, to confirm any changes in start and end times of training.• Total Hours of Training: 30 hours (4-days at 7.5 hrs per day)• Instructors: Rorion, Ryron, Rener or Ralek Gracie.• Officers/Agents will learn to apply Gracie Combatives™ techniques themselves, as well as teach them to others (Train-the-Trainer/Force Multiplier) that address the most common threat scenarios.• Stand up and ground fighting techniques.• Can train up to a maximum of 50 Officers/Agents, per course, in 4-days.• The techniques taught are court defensible and Certified Gracie Combatives™ Instructors have available to them expert testimony from Rorion Gracie in use of force cases.• You do not need to be in ultimate fighting shape to take this course or have prior martial arts experience.• For more info go to http://www.gracieacademy.com/graple_police.html

Consult with Instructors.

About the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu AcademyThe Gracie Academy is where the Mixed Martial Arts phenomenon began! The founder, Rorion Gracie, is the world’s leading self-defense expert. Rorion is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Grand Master and the eldest son of Helio Gracie, the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Rorion is the father of 9 children. His teaching career spans over 35 years. He revolutionized the world of martial arts by creating the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and showing to the world that Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is the ultimate self-defense. Because of Rorion Gracie, grappling has been introduced into the training regimen of nearly every major martial art, military unit and law enforcement organization. Gracie Combatives™ , is the foundation for the US Army’s hand-to-hand fighting system. Rorion’s sons, Ryron, Rener and Ralek Gracie, Black Belt Masters in their own right, continue the traditon as the head instructors of the Gracie Academy.

What is the difference between Gracie Combatives™ for Law Enforcement and Military version?: The difference is that the Law Enforcement program is focused primarily on arrest and control procedures whereas the Military version, due to the nature of urban warfare in today’s battlefield, focuses on survival first. Besides some minor variations, the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu techniques utilized in the two programs are very similar and humane in their application. The difference is more of a mental focus during the application of the techniques, than the techniques themselves. One program is not better than the other. Military personnel are permitted to take the Law Enforcement course but they will not be certified as “Gracie Combatives™ Instructor for the Military” but will be certified “Gracie Combatives™ Instructor for Law Enforcement”.
