UFC Fight Night Results 91

UFC Fight Night 91 took place on a Wednesday putting it as the 4th UFC event in less than a week. In the main event, two Bantamweight contenders faced off to see who may be next in line for a title shot after TJ Dillashaw gets his rematch. Also, some veterans and newcomers faced off on the card.

In a case of what might have been, we will always have to wonder what John Lineker would have done in a fight with current 125 pound champion Demetrious Johnson. Now, whoever has the belt at 135 better watch out, because this is a man on a mission. Since moving up, he has two first round finishes over legit tough competitors and a win over a tough up and comer. He should be facing off with Caraway for the number one contendership.

Tony Ferguson overcame early adversity to take a win over a late replacement fighter With eight straight wins he might deserve the next title shot, but if he had that much trouble with pressure from a relative nobody, one has to wonder how he will do agains the champion Eddie Alvarez.

Returning to 185, Tim Boestch picked up his second win in five fights as a knockout over Josh Samman. Hard to say where he goes from here, but he secured himself at least two more paydays in the UFC with this win. Plus, he is always fun to watch win or lose.

In two minor upsets, Daniel Omielańczuk took out the returning Oliynky by decision. This is his third straight win since losing his first two fights in the UFC. He might make a good opponent for Roy Nelson who recently lost his last fight. Also, Keita Nakamura came back from losing the first to take out Kyle Noke in the second round by submission. Nakamura now sits at 2-1 in the UFC after losing his first three fights in the Octagon.

The first fight of the main card had Louis Smolka winning his fourth straight fight by TKO over Ben Nguyen who had won two straight. Smoke sits at 5-1 with three finishes in his last four and his only loss coming to title contender Chris Cariaso. He should capitalize on this win and ask to take on Wilson Reis who was supposed to fight for the title but was left without an opponent when the champion became injured. it would be a good way to jump the line and maybe get himself in line for a title shot with another big win in less than two weeks away.
