Venue: The Hackney Empire, Mare Street, London E810K is being held in one of the UK’s most renowned theatre’s which was built in 1854, seeing two world wars and hosting thousands of productions from classical operas through to international music awards events. The Hackney Empire was restored in 2004 and has become one of London’s’ most iconic theatres. www.hackneyempire.com
Times: Doors Open 6.30pm / First fight 7.15pm
Rules: The 10K Ground Clash will be fought over Urban Gorillaz rules. See website for further details.
Tournament: There will be 32 Competitors in the event, 4 pools of 8 fighters. There will be 8 seeded international fighters, one in each pool and 24 Non seeded fighters. The winner of each pool will progress to the semi finals. The eventual winner would have had five bouts to win the £10,000 purse and Ground Clash King’s inaugural title.The event will be headed by Jude Samuel (jude@bjj.eu.com), European BJJ Champion and owner of Urban Gorillaz, ADCC UK qualifiers and the European Fight Network Ltd.
History of 10K10K was started in 2002 by Joe Long who wanted to showcase Karate using the world’s elite fighters. The 10K Karate Clash is an invitational only tournament, which has been the most successful event of its type worldwide and invites not only WKF competitors but international fighters from Taekwondo, Freestyle and Knockdown. The same format will be applied to the 10K Ground Clash.
Styles: The organisers are hoping to bring together a range of elite submission fighters from the worlds of Greco Roman, Pancrase, Shoot, Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
