UFC Fight Night 74 Predictions: Main Card
Max Holloway(13-3-0)(-225) vs. Charles Oliveira(20-4-0)(+175)
Holloway has been on an amazing run, but he has never faced a world class BJJ submission artist. Yes, Cole Miller is a tough fighter, but he is still not on the level of Oliveira. It begs the question if Oliveira can get it to the ground. Well, the fight with Jeremy Stephens proved he can deal with tough hands and wrestling and his submission skills are just on another level. Oliveira by 3rd round submission.
Neil Magny(15-4-0)(+150) vs. Erick Silva(18-5-0)(-175)
Magny comes in as a late replacement, but he has a lot of skills that will give Silva some trouble. He has the reach and height advantage, plus he has the striking to keep himself out of trouble with Silva. If Silva can get it to the ground he has a chance, but Magny’s length will not give him that option. Magny gets back on the winning track with a decision victory.
Josh Burkman(27-11-0)(-135) vs. Patrick Cote(21-9-0)(+105)
Cote says that he wants to submit Burkman which is a weird statement for a fighter who was known for his knockout power and iron chin. In his last few fights it has not been evident that he had either. Cote is still a tough fighter, but even in his last two fights that he lost, Burkina has shown more promise and that will win him this fight by TKO in the third.
Maryna Moroz(6-0-0)(-185) vs. Valerie Letourneau(7-3-0)(+150)
Moroz has not shown to have too many holes in her game and has quite a great grappling resume. All she has to do is get it to the floor to capture the win which she is smart enough to do that by winning by sub in the second round.
Sam Stout(20-11-0)(-105) vs. Frankie Perez(9-2-0)(-125)
Stout’s chin is not wha tit used to be, but when fighting a fighter like Perez who does not have knockout power or even vaunted striking. That will pay dividends for the Canadian born fighter that will use his skills to capture a decision victory after losses in his last few fights.
