Andre Galvao talks about his training for Strikeforce debut

Seven times world BJJ champion; Andre Galvao will make his Strikeforce debut on March 26. The Strikeforce "Challenger Series" will be held in Fresno, California, and Galvão will face Luke Stewart, in a welterweight bout.

"I’m training a lot, I’m very focused," said Galvão to OTM, "The guy is also from Jiu-Jitsu, is well experienced, is a BJJ black belt under Ralph Gracie. I’m in a good rhythm and I’m going there to get this victory.”

For this challenge, Galvão trains daily in the X-Gym, a gym located in Rio de Janeiro, and that has experts like Anderson Silva, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante.

"I’m training right," he said, "The promoters would set a date for me to fight, but always postponed, and I kept training, focused, dedicating me to this, now they set this fight and I have a good time to train. I’m feeling good and now I’ll just keep training to get there well.”

Accustomed to fight also against the weight, the black belt ensures that will not have problems to overcome the loss of weight for the fight.

"I have no weight problems; I’m doing a very good diet, well balanced. I feel good and am improving day by day", he said.

Born in Sao Paulo, Galvao won several titles in BJJ with a very offensive game, always looking for the submission. For the MMA, however, the fighter decided to move to Rio de Janeiro a year ago, and noticed the great changes he had in his game.

"Before I came over here just at the time of the fight, came about three weeks before the fight, but realized that I should be here all the time. I moved to Rio de Janeiro a year ago", he said," Who has seen my fights since the first, even I noticed an evolution, I have been improving ‘cause I’ve been devoting a lot on this. Sign contracts with major events are helping me greatly improve my performance and develop each time more. "
