Just wanted to let you know that I’ll be launching the new John Rain book, The Last Assassin, at Kepler’s in Menlo Park on Thursday, June 1, 7:30 pm. The Kepler’s launch will kick off a 30+ city tour — the biggest Rain tour yet! — and we’ve got some special events planned with the store to mark the start of the festivities…
First, I’m going to name a character in the next Rain book for the person who spends the most money on any Kepler’s merchandise between 9:00 am Friday, May 26 and 9:30 pm Thursday, June 1. So stop by that week and support the local independent bookseller that we all love but almost lost last year.
Second, anyone purchasing The Last Assassin at Kepler’s on June 1, the day it goes on sale, can enter a contest to win a complete set of five signed hardcover first edition John Rain books (the drawing will take place in the store right after the signing). Putnam is making a big push to get John Rain on the New York Times charts this summer, and everyone buying The Last Assassin simultaneously at Kepler’s would be an important step in that direction…
Finally, continuing a local tradition, we’re getting together at Cafe Borrone next door to Kepler’s after the signing; bring a signed copy of one of the Rain books for your complimentary wine.
