The BAF in association with Fighters Inc will be organising the British Arm Wrestling Championships from Lakeside Shopping Centre Thurrock on the weekend of the 13th & 14th September as part of their production slate for a dynamic weekly programme ‘International Arm-Wrestling’ on Eurosport which will start in October and be shown in over 50 countries Worldwide. The British Armwrestling Championships is the oldest and mos! t prestigious event in the domestic calendar of a sport which is starting to gain universal recognition as one of the most intense and exciting combat based strength sports in the World.
Across the weekend around 100 of the countries Armwrestling Elite, both male and female, will compete across specially designed tournament tables in 22 specific weight categories for the right to call themselves British National Champion. The action will be raw and intense with no love lost in many of the matches and the event will be massively enhanced by a series of 6 round Professional Supermatches featuring the very best athletes in the sport from around the World.
Athletes will include World Champions from the USA and Brazil with the main event involving the legendary John Brzenk of the U.S. A Light Heavyweight giant killer widely recognized as the greatest Armwrestler of all time, he steps up in weight to challenge the reigning Professional Super Heavyweight World Champion “No Limits” Devon Larratt of Canada, who stands 6 ft 6” tall and weighs 120kg.
The weekend and will be supported by celebrity fans such as Danny John Jules the star of ‘Red Dwarf’ and ‘Sucker Punch’. The action will get underway from 12 noon on Saturday and 11am on Sunday. It’ free entry to the championship so why not come along and experience what should be a big weekend of dynamite action in the world strength sports.
Armwrestling is a sport which tests the individuals speed, strength, technique and endurance as well as their nerve and mental toughness. The modern sport is very far removed from the mental image once conjured up of two huge men testing their brute strength over a creaking table in a smoke filled bar room.
