TESTIMONIALS

Chris Cowboy (Purple Belt) – San Diego, California – USA: “Thank you for the opportunity and hospitality you all showed me while I was in Brazil. It was an AMAZING time. This was my 3rd trip to Brasil and by far the most fun and informative BJJ experience I have ever had. I left the camp with many incredible memories of the people and places that we met. The level of all of the instructors and facilities of both BTT & Nova Geracao were the best!!! I left with so many new techs it was like being at an epic BJJ seminar everyday…The camp structure and information that was presented to us daily was also incredible. Everything was laid out perfectly everyday in clear and concise instructions and we were kept extremely busy. The hotel and activities were great and more than we expected. I would HIGHLY recommend this camp to anyone that wants to truly experience Rio and take their game to the next level! Don’t miss out on this experience! “

Jack Forbes (Blue Belt) – Las Vegas, Nevada – USA: “ When you sum all up, I had great time at BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp. Training with BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp was all that. I had hoped for and more. The instruction was expertly detailed, well explained and presented in a friendly manner. Everyone went out of their way to help my “game” improve. BTT Jiu Jitsu Camp has definitely taken my Jiu Jitsu to the next level. My hat is tipped to instructors and staff. They gave an experience to remember. I give them my thanks. Hey guys, I will be back!”

AGAIN!! Jack Forbes (Blue Belt) – Las Vegas, NV – USA: “I had a pleasure of attending the May (2006) BTT Camp. It was a tremendous experience. I enjoyed it so much that I came back for July’s (2006) Camp. Prior to returning to Rio I didn’t think that the Camp could be any better. I was wrong! Rodrigo Antunes (Camp Director) outdid himself this time around.

This time we stayed an Barra Beach. Definitely one of the premier beaches in the world (I am 55 and have been around. so I do not make that statement lightly). We began our day with 2 hours private trains with Ze Mario Sperry himself. We covered techniques, theory, and submissions… Ze Mario Sperry is a outstanding “Professor” who loves to share his knowledge. After “Ze Mario” off to the BTT training center in Rio for general training and grappling. In the afternoon, the beach or the Health Club (Academia da Praia). What a day!

Combine all this with friendly brazilian people, awesome food, a great hotel and you have a Five Star Jiu-Jitsu vacation experience.

You are the best. I’ll be back (again)!

Ethan Day (Purple Belt) – Kansas City (USA): “I am a purple belt from the United States currently living in Ipanema and training at BTT in Rio. Since I arrived four months ago, I couldn’t be happier with the quality of instruction I’ve received here at BTT. I had always heard that the level of Jiu-Jitsu in Rio was the highest in the world and while training at BTT, I’ve come to understand why. In every class there is a wide variety of levels from beginners to seasoned black belts and the instructors do an excellent job of understanding the technical needs of everyone in class. The precise attention to detail, level of competition, and instruction that I have received at the BTT academy has been above my expectations.

I had always wanted to train Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil and visit Rio de Janeiro since I began training over five years ago. Before arriving, I didn’t speak any Portuguese or know anything about Rio. I was relieved when several instructors and students who spoke English were able to help me communicate, find a place to stay, and show me around the city. BTT is right in between Ipanema and Leblon. It’s one of the best areas in Rio to stay in for safety, food and beaches. In addition to the training, everyone here has treated me really well and I’ve always felt welcomed and accepted as part of the team.

I’ve had a completely positive experience. I’ve trained with and talked to many of the BTT Camp participants who felt the same way I did about the training and their experiences in Rio with the Brazilian Top Team. The BTT camp is an ideal vacation for training Jiu-Jitsu and experiencing Rio de Janeiro.”

Robert Hugus (Black Belt) – Plattsburg, New York – USA: “I would definitely come for another edition and I am going to recommend it to my friends. The training and attitudes of everyone at your school is excellent. We felt like a part of the team. Maybe next time I can set up a week long visit with my girlfriend to come with me.”

Rune Brinckmeyer (White Belt) – DENMARK: “JJ Camp promised a chance to roll with some of the best BJJ players and delivered. Both training sites BTT & Nova Geração, provided a rare opportunity to train with really skilled people that are on the top of their game. Both places managed to present a friendly and relaxed environment, without ever compromising training focus and a serious approach to the learning process. I found the instructors highly inspirational, the focus on technique, form and training drills to be top-notch. Instructors and students of the academies had every intention to make me a better player, showing attention to the fact that people are different, and thus needs to strengthen different parts of their game.
Definitely a camp I would like to return to! It met and even exceeded my highest hopes for it, obviously with respect to BJJ, but also in terms of learning a little about how cariocas (the people of Rio) go about important business such as beach- and party activities as well! Coming as a White Belt, I got away with a lot of insight on how the landscape of BJJ looks, and I am eager to explore it given this new knowledge. I’ll be back!”

Ben Gavin (Blue Belt) – Boston, MA – USA: “The Brazilian Top Team Jiu-jitsu camp was an experience of a life time. I can honestly say I have never experienced more in depth training and instruction then the training I received while attending the Brazilian Top Team camp. The Brazilian Top Team staff is some of the most talented individuals in regards to their level of experience in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and also their willingness to share their experiences and ability with us. The camp offers a chance to get detailed instruction that you cannot find anywhere else. Only now do I realize that in my own Jiu-jitsu career, I have only just scratched the surface of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.”

David McConkley (Blue Belt) – Ireland – ” I have just attended the recent Jiu Jitsu Camp and I can honestly say it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I got off the plane, the staff was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The instructors had everything planned and taken care of from the first day and immediately i got a good feeling about the instructors. They were extremely friendly and genuine. The Jiu Jitsu classes were excellent and the level of coaching was extremely high. The standard and attention to detail of coaching was so high that it was impossible not to improve your game.

I was extremely happy with the training but the extra activities were excellent also. We got to see all the known sights such as the sugar loaf and the Christ statue. We even took in a football match at the Maracanã, which for me was one of the many highlights of the trip.

I would have absolutely no hesitation recommending the camp to anybody. The instructors are excellent and the pupils are very friendly and helpful – an excellent environment to learn. It is an excellent opportunity to train at one of the best clubs in the world and also and opportunity to make good friends. I for one will definitely return to Brazil at some stage to take my training to the next level again! ”

Johnny Zemouli (promoted to Blue Belt) – Cannes, FRANCE: “I would like thanks everybody for this Camp, I improved my skills so much. Brazilian are so friendly and the atmosphere so cool. This camp is not good only for jiu-jitsu but also to live like a brazilian and fell like a carioca (natural from Rio de Janeiro). Thank you to everyone and you’re all welcome in France”. * After the JiuJitsuCamp, Johnny decided to stay two more months in Rio and improved more and more, we had no doubt…promoted him to a BTT Blue Belt. Congrats, Johnny!

Michael Zenga (Blue Belt) – Boston, Massachusetts – USA – “As an attendee of the May ’06 Jiu Jitsu Camp, I can say that the camp more than exceeded my expectations. The staff made great efforts to make sure that we could enjoy Rio de Janeiro as much as possible. Throughout the trip, we ate at terrific, healthy restaurants and avoided tourist traps. We were able to see the major attractions of the city including the Corcovado, Sugarloaf, as well as Ipanema Beach, however the sights didn’t stop there. We were personally escorted through favelas (ghetto neighborhoods) and taken to a wild soccer game unlike any one would experience in the US. Without question, the only way to see Rio is to be shown by a lifelong resident.

The level of Jiu Jitsu was unlike anything I have seen in the US. Jiu Jitsu Camp participants get the chance to roll with dozens and dozens of black belts and/or professional fighters (many we have heard of) who are intent on helping them improve their games. The attention to detail by all students in the school was terrific. One could not possibly come to the camp and not get better.

Mike Saint (White Belt) – Aberdeen, SCOTLAND: “I think that what amazed me the most about the whole experience is that you are training with world class fighters and you are treated as an equal. Everyone is very friendly and extremely generous with their time, everyone I met was happy to help go over techniques.

The accommodation is excellent and you have ample opportunity to spend time in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It really is an experience not to be missed.”
