GGG & Canelo Go Off On Mayweather VS. McGregor “It’s Not A Fight”

GGG & Canelo Go Off On Mayweather VS. McGregor

Well, it’s not the first time that the boxers Canelo Alvarez and GGG have had a conflict with the Mayweather VS. McGregor fight. It started with this, which, while according to them wasn’t anything personal, still involved the September date of Mayweather/McGregor getting jacked and replaced by Canelo VS. GGG.

Nothing really happened between the UFC and these boxers, especially seeing how kind Dana White was in the video, complimenting both of the fighters and also looking forward to the fight quite a bit.

Then this happened, on Luke Thomas’ podcast (The Luke Thomas Podcast) which happened to involve both GGG and Canelo voicing their opinions on the matter, and their opinions weren’t positive, listen in below.

GGG:

“This is not a fight. My fight with Canelo is a fight. This is show. Conor with Floyd is show — business show or a funny show, or for somebody’s interest show, not for us.

“It’s not for boxing. This is not for boxing. This is for people, for business. My fight with Canelo, this is boxing. This is true fight.

“You know, I respect McGregor [as] a UFC fighter, [but] he’s not a boxer. He’s a good fighter, he’s not a boxer.”

Canelo:

“His [Conor] style. His [Conor] style’s what’s difficult,” Alvarez said about Mayweather. “He’s [Conor] a fighter that doesn’t risk anything. He’s [Conor] a little too careful defensively.

“He [Conor] doesn’t really care whether he [Conor] wins a round by three punches.

“He [Conor] doesn’t care what the people think about him. For him it’s all about winning and that’s fine. That’s his style, that’s what he goes for but I feel the fans want a little more action.”

“I’ve been asked [about the fight] that throughout the day in many interviews. I really don’t have a comment about that fight, but I will say this- I think that the fans will speak, they’ll know what to do. They’ll know the difference between a sideshow and a real fight, and they’ll decide what they want to do.”

Oh way, Michael Chiesa pissed off… No no no, not like those guys, he’s REEEAAALLLY pissed off.

“We don’t need to beat around the bush. Conor’s doing what he’s doing is [expletive] retarded. What Conor is doing is ridiculous,” Chiesa said on Fight Society.

“It’s a tricky decision, and it’s all tricky because we’re sitting and waiting for one guy to do something, and you’ve got 10 guys spring loaded to do something. Like we’re all gunning to be world champion and it sucks just having to sit back and wait to see what this guy does.

“By the time the Floyd [Mayweather] fight happens, his belt will have not moved for a year. This division has already been plagued by delays.

“Look when [Anthony] Pettis was champion, how many fights we had. We had none. There’s never been an interim title. Once again the lightweight division is back logged so it kind of sucks. It really does.”

“I win this fight, I feel like I win this fight I’m on a four-fight win streak, give me a top five guy. I win, give me a title shot, let’s move on,” Chiesa said.

“If not, I’ll maintain my relevance, I’ll go up to 170 (pounds) and fight guys until Conor starts making moves and then I’ll come back down. The lightweight division is the most competitive in the world and it’s a shame that we don’t get the chance to showcase it because we have a champion that’s sitting around.

“As upset as I am in the state of the lightweight division, I’d probably do the same thing if I were Conor and I had $100 million waiting for me. I don’t blame him for doing what he’s doing but it sucks for the rest of us.”
