Global FC release #6, Warpath vs. Butterbean

During training for his scheduled Super Heavyweight clash with Eric “Butterbean” Esch, Stefan Gamlin suffered a knee injury that will require surgery. With Gamlin unable to compete, someone had to take on the unenviable task of going toe-to-toe with Butterbean on August 17 at Mohegan Sun Arena. Enter Ruben Villareal, better known as “Warpath”.Warpath, a proud Native American, is known for his courage; and for never backing down from a challenge. Don’t expect Villareal to be intimidated as he is no stranger to high-profile competition. In fact, Warpath has faced many of the biggest names in the history of the sport including Dan “The Beast” Severn and Don “The Predator” Frye. Villareal took Frye to the limit in a hard fought battle that was declared a draw after the fight went the distance. Similar to his current act of bravery, Ruben recently stepped up, replacing Kimo in a main event with the legendary Bas Rutten. Villareal took the fight with only two days notice! Nobody else was willing to face Rutten under those circumstances. Ruben is fresh off of first round submission victory (kimura) over Rafael Real on July 19. Warpath claims to be in the best shape of his career, and is excited to be part of the Global FC debut. When asked about the source of his fearless nature, Warpath stated, “Mother Bear and the Eagle Spirit guide and inspire me when I step into battle.” With his signature war paint, Villareal is one of the most colorful and imposing competitors in all of MMA today. He also has a very tough chin, and is able to absorb a lot of punishment. That will serve him well as Butterbean has bone crushing punching power. This Super Heavyweight war has the makings of a real slugfest.
