Gracie Open Videos

One of the early pioneers of the NorCal scene is Cesar Gracie, who held his fifth Gracie Open at Mount Diablo Community College this year. You can make a strong argument that one of the strongest areas for BJJ and MMA would be Northern California, which hosts a multitude of teams, talented fighters and coaches, and boasts the single largest attended MMA show in North American history. One of the early pioneers of the NorCal scene is Cesar Gracie, who held his fifth Gracie Open at Mount Diablo Community College this year. About three hundred competitors competed in both BJJ and Submission Grappling Divisions at this event. In addition to the regular divisions, there were two superfight matches. In the first match, Nate Diaz beat Josh Thompson in a 6-6 match based on aggressiveness. Both had some near submissions, but Nate had more and was more aggressive. Nate Ducharme beat Travis Lewis. Nate was by quite a few points, and even had a triangle choke which Travis got out of. Travis pushed Nate off with a double foot attempt that looked and sounded way more like a kick and Nate looked really pissed (well, more so than usual), and the referee immediately disqualified Travis for unsportsmanlike conduct. Raul Castillo won a three man brown belt division, both matches by submission. Full results should be available on Cesar’s website at www.Graciefighter.com Here are some videos from the event, please enjoy!
