Boxing on successive Saturdays in October in Southern California, Metro New York, and Chicagoland. IFL Coaches will conduct the sessions, which are open to MMA athletes ages 18 and over with a minimum of one professional MMA bout to their credit, seeking potential spots on the 2008 IFL team rosters.

The Southern California session will take place on Saturday, Oct. 13, at the L.A. Boxing at 103 E. 17th St., Suite 1 in Costa Mesa, Calif. The following Saturday, Oct. 20, the combine moves to the L.A. Boxing location at 300 Waverly Ave. in Mamaroneck, N.Y. The third and final session will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27 at a location to be announced in Greater Chicago. Each session will run from 11:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., and each participant must bring his own workout and protective gear.

The sessions will consist of sparring in the ring and grappling on the mats. Athletes will compete in one of five weight classes: 155 lbs., 170 lbs., 185 lbs., 205 lbs., 265 lbs.

Participants may register online at www.ifl.tv/Draft.html or on site at the respective locations prior to the event date. Three to four IFL coaches will attend each session.

“Our coaches are always on the lookout for untapped talent, and from previous workouts we know there are many athletes looking for a chance to try out for our teams,” said Kurt Otto, IFL Commissioner. “Additionally, we are pleased to be teaming with L.A. Boxing to maximize the quality of the sessions and provide an outstanding environment for our coaches and participants.”

The IFL completed its 2007 team competition last week when Gracie’s New York Pitbulls topped Miletich’s Quad City Silverbacks, 3-2, in the IFL World Championship Finals at Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Fla.
