Invicta FC is the all female promotion of MMA and they are set to have their 15th event air on UFC Fight Pass straight from Costa Mesa, California at the OC Fair and Events Center. The event will be headlined by a Strawweight championship which is currently held by Livia Renata Souza who won the belt back at Invicta 12 in April of this year but has not fought since. This was her first fight for the promotion and outside of Brazil.
She currently sits at 8-0 as a professional with seven of those wins coming by submission. Her opponent also currently sits at 8-0 as well. She will be facing off with none other than Deanne Bennett who has won four straight for the promotion. She has a win over TUF champion Julianna Pena and beat former champion Katja Kankaanpää to capture her chance at fighting for the title. It should be a good fight and one has to wonder if they win whether or not they will be picked up by the UFC as currently they may be running out of contenders for their 115 title. Souza was originally announced to fight Alex Grasso but an injury has forced her off this card.
A rumored fight between Cyborg and Cindy Dandois was thought to be on this card, but it was shot down by Cyborg who may have bigger fish to fry in the UFC. While that fight may not be happening, the promotion also announced a few other bouts. Former UFC fighter Lisa Ellis will be fighting not he card after being cut from the UFC, but she also fought all the way back on the first Invicta FC card against none other than Jessica Penne. She will be dropping back down to 105 to face off with Amber Brown who currently sits at 5-1 but has won two straight in the promotion.
Also, former Bantamweight title challenger Irene Aldana will look to get back in her winning ways after losing by TKO to current champion Tonya Evinger. Aldana will be facing off with Raquel Pa’aluhi who had a horrible start to her career at 2-4, but has turned things around as of late with a three fight winning streak. This includes two straight wins in the promotion. The last fight currently announced has TUF and former UFC fighter Angela Hill returning tot he cage after being dropped by the UFC. This will be good as the young fighter needs more time to grow. She will be facing off with Jodie Esquibel who is moving up from 105 for the fight. She currently has a record of 5-1 with her only loss coming to UFC fighter Alex Chambers.
