Johnny Eduardo talks about his upcoming UFC debut in Rio

More Brazilians are confirmed on the card for UFC Rio, which takes place on August 27, at HSBC Arena. The experienced Johnny Eduardo will make his debut in the organization against Raphael Assunção in the featherweight division. Assunção was scheduled to face Darren Uyenoyama, who was just cut from the card.

"I was training to fight in Shooto of BOPE, which will happen a few days before UFC Rio, but I got the call from UFC calling me for this fight and accepted right away", said Johnny, "I expected the invitation to fight in the UFC for some time, since the time of the WEC, but I did not dream that would be in Rio".

South-American champion of Shooto, Johnny knows what’s his biggest challenge in the main event in the MMA of the world.

"The biggest difficulty is not to get to the UFC, but keep me there", he said, "But be assured that I’m not going there just for a walk, I’ll make the fight of my life. I want to go to the UFC and stay there. It is a great sensation to debut in an event in my city, in front of my friends. Then I will train hard to give a great show".
