Last week, I signed a contract to fight at Ultimate Fight Night 11 on September 19th, which will be held at the Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. My fight against Din Thomas will be the main event of the night and be broadcast by Spike TV, beginning at 9pm (ET/PT).
Originally, Spencer Fisher was scheduled to fight Din Thomas. Unfortunately, Spencer got a staph infection. When the UFC contacted me about taking his place, I reviewed with my team and they all gave me the green light. Originally, I planned to fight at UFC 78, which is going to be held in New Jersey on November 17th. Although this will be my third fight in five months, I’m a fighter and I want to fight.
Din is one of best fighters in the world. He’s got a great game and has been one of the guys I’ve been looking up to. To be the best you’ve got to beat the best and that’s what Din is.
At this time, I also want to send out my prayers to the people who lost their lives in a terrible earthquake in Peru. I still have many relatives and friends who live there. So far, everyone related to me seems to be safe, but there is a lot of damage and more deaths are expected. I pray for the best.
